I'm a tutor who is based out of New York City, where I enjoy dancing, practicing photography, and spending time with my dogs when I'm not in the classroom working with students. I have two bachelor's degrees "” one in psychology and one in elementary education "” as well as a master's degree in reading. I have achieved "highly qualified" status as an educator due to my high level PRAXIS scores. I've worked as an elementary school teacher for the past 15 years, where I've taught both second and third grade students. While I'm no longer a teacher, I still have a deep passion for educating children. This is what drew me towards becoming a tutor. I bond with children quickly and have learned numerous strategies to focus on and address each student's specific needs. I use the knowledge I get about a child's learning style and then create an individualized lesson plan to help that child overcome their problem areas. There's nothing like the feeling I get when I help a student finally have a breakthrough moment in a subject they've been struggling with. I'm excited to help new students reach their goals and achieve academic excellence!
